about

Imari Jade has been writing over twenty years. She grew up in New Orleans, and presently lives in Marrero, Louisiana. Imari has been an avid reader since she was a child, but it wasn’t until she won an essay contest in the eight grade when she discovered she had a passion for writing. Originally as a child she dreamed of being a dancer. After marrying and having three sons Imari worked for the KMart Corporation for ten years and then went back to college and earned a secretarial degree, putting her dream of becoming a journalist on hold. The urge to write came back when her aunt introduced her to Harlequin historical novels. Imari tried her hand at writing her first romance novel but never had it published. She continued to hone her craft for another couple of years, publishing humorous articles on how to cope with raising kids. She went back to college and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems and became a financial analyst. Imari kept writing and entering writing contest.

Although she successfully published non-fiction articles and fiction short stories she still dreamed of publishing a romance novel. Her first romance short story Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number was published by Justus Roux and that was followed up when Midnight Showcase published another short story A Rose by Any Other Name in their Revenge Digest. Imari signed on with Star Dust Press and finally penned her first holiday romance novel A Christmas to Remember, a book she wrote in ten days. She followed it up with her first mythological/paranormal romance Death Takes a Holiday. Her second paranormal manuscript Love Never Dies appears in Midnight Showcase’s Halloween Hijinx Digest.

In 2009 Imari contracted on with Sugar and Spice Press and published an interracial romance Body Heat under their Uninhibited series, and she followed it up with a paranormal romance Damnation, in Midnight Showcase Fiction’s Forbidden Digest. Upcoming works include another Christmas contemporary/paranormal/romance short story entitled Unwrapped Gifts with Midnight Showcase Fiction, a full-length novel contemporary/interracial romance Oasis, with Sugar and Spice Press. Carnal Desire Publishing has contracted for the re-release of Death Takes a Holiday and coming in July 2010 Imari’s hottest work yet, a contemporary romance set in Egypt titled In Love with a Dark Stranger.

Imari’s favorite writers are Laurell Hamilton and Charlaine Harris. She loves vampire and paranormal novels. When Imari is not reading or writing she is doing her favorite thing watching anime which she got hooked on a couple of years ago.
